Since mid-May, Dr. Alexander Huber (on right) has been promoted to the management team of ITK Engineering GmbH and succeeds Dr. Frank Schmidt. Huber, who himself holds a doctorate in electrical engineering, has already been with the company for a decade. His mission: strengthen this software and systems specialist in its current markets, drive internationalization forward, and expand business diversification. His predecessor, Dr. Frank Schmidt, will continue his professional career within the Bosch Group.
A familiar face that promises a breath of fresh air: Dr. Alexander Huber (on right) started his new role as Managing Director of ITK Engineering GmbH in mid-May – to coincide with his tenth anniversary of service. “I’m extremely happy that we’ve been able to recruit Alexander Huber, a proven engineering expert and long-time ITK employee, for this challenging task,” says Jens Hofmann, the second Managing Director and CFO of ITK Engineering. “Alexander Huber knows the company from the time before it joined the Bosch Group and helped shape its integration into Robert Bosch GmbH in 2017. He not only possesses professional expertise and strategic foresight but also brings with him the personal passion needed to align ITK Engineering for the future.”
After studying electrical engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Huber earned his doctorate on applied laser technology at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. He began his career at Bayerisches Laserzentrum (Bavarian Laser Center) before moving to the Photonics division of Polytec GmbH, where he remained for nearly 14 years. He has been working at ITK Engineering since 2015, initially as a sales manager, then for eight years as head of the Healthcare division. As Vice President of Industrial Solutions, he has been responsible for the Healthcare, Rail, Industry and Consulting divisions since 2024. He is now taking over the position of Managing Director.
“After ten years at ITK Engineering, being able to help shape our path to the future as the company’s Managing Director is a special honor for me,” explains Huber. “Our excellent, international team has transformed the company over the past few years, making it a leading engineering partner in the area of digital engineering. Focusing on Automotive, Rail, Industry and Healthcare we want to consolidate and expand this position.” These efforts hinge on the company’s ability to further internationalize ITK’s activities and tap new areas of growth. “We see huge potential in the fields of semiconductors, robotics and cloud applications in particular, as well as in consulting,” says Huber. “This is where we want to leverage cross-domain expertise in the area of software and system development to create real added value for our customers.”

Originally founded in 1994 as “Ingenieursgesellschaft für technische Kybernetik”, the company’s cornerstones remain the same. “Our special strength has always been in combining information technology with engineering science and finding customized, creative solutions to our customers’ challenges,” says Huber. “That’s something we want to hold on to, in keeping with our claim: ITK. The Art of Digital Engineering.”
Alongside Alexander Huber, Jens Hofmann will remain in his position as second Managing Director and CFO. Huber’s predecessor, Dr. Frank Schmidt, will leave ITK Engineering and continue his professional career within the Bosch Group. Schmidt had been Managing Director of ITK Engineering since October 2021. “We’d like to thank Frank Schmidt for his enormous dedication during these challenging times,” says Hofmann. “Together with our team, he’s taken digital engineering to a new level. We’d like to wish him all the best in his new role and look forward to further collaboration within the Bosch Group.”
